Leanne Rimes - “Nothing Better To Do” - nominated for Best Video & Best Female Video
The CMT Music Awards are this Monday, April 14th at 8 PM. The event will be hosted by Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus. I think music videos and CMT do have an impact on country music and it is nice to recognize those involved. It is also pretty cool that the CMT Music Awards are the only fan picked country music awards show. I went on CMT ’s website and voted. I have listed some highlights of my choices. It looks like the awards show will end up being dominated by Brad Paisley and his song Online.
Best Video Nominees: Nothing Better To Do, Wasted, Online, Stay, Take Me There, Our Song, Because of You, & Don’t Blink
I chose Online. There are things about that video that I find disturbing. However, it probably still deserves best video.
Best Male Video Nominees: Online, High Maintenance Woman, I Got My Game On, & I told You So
I chose Online.
Comedy Video Of Year Nominees: Online, High Maintenance Woman, I Got My Game On, & The More I Drink
I chose Online. I thought “the More I Drink” was very funny but I must admit Online is funnier
Best Female Video Nominees: Famous in Small Town, Our Song, So Small, Nothing Better To Do, & Anway
I chose Nothing Better To Do.
Tearjerker Video Of the Year Nominees: Don’t Blink, I Wonder, Ready Set Go, & Stay
I chose I Wonder. I had to go with Kelly Pickler’s song about not knowing her mom to be the most moving to me. I know Stay is quite a tearjerker too.

Gotta admit Online is a pretty funny video. I can see that or Stay dominating the awards. I would love to see I Told You So win for male artist though, but I wouldn’t mind Online winning either.

Wow. Now that the show is over. I couldn’t have been more wrong about who would win some of the awards. I thought people would vote based on quality. What was I thinking! I forgot how these fan voted type things can go. I am going to write a follow up post shortly.
