Randy Travis - Around The Bend Review
by Heather Williams

Randy Travis’s legendary status combined with the success of his new inspirational single “Faith In You” resulted in Randy’s new album debuting at number 3 on country music charts earlier this month. After carefully reviewing the album, I have no problem saying Randy Travis’s new album, Around The Bend, is one of the best albums of ‘08. Randy was able to stay true to his classic country roots but add the beat and sound that works today. There wasn’t a bad song on the album. Around The Bend was a blend of love, faith, and relationship trouble songs. The most interesting thing about the album was how many break-up/failed relationship songs were on it. There were 4 in all. Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right, Turn It Around, From Your Knees, and Everything I Own [Has Got A Dent]. You would think four relationship trouble songs would make the album a downer but it didn’t. The songs were great. They were well written, well sung, and real. I had many favorites on the album for different reasons. In earlier posts I have already professed my love for the first single off the album, “Faith In You.” Faith In You” has powerful lyrics about authentic faith and love for another and Randy Travis’s voice made that song an instant favorite. The song that hit me the hardest on the album was Dig Two Graves. It just reflected so well how you can have such a deep and powerful love for another person. Another powerful song on the album was You Didn’t Have A Good Time, which talks about the evils of alcohol. I would love to hear Randy and Joe Nichols sing this song together. Listening to this album reminded me of why I love country music so much. Go listen to the full album yourself and you will see just how great the album is. You can listen to it for free at Randy Travis’s website
Let me know what you think of the new album.
