by Heather Williams

At the end of July, the duo Sugarland, Jennifer Nettles & Kristian Bush, released Love On The Inside. They also released a Deluxe Fan Edition of the album. The deluxe version features 5 extra songs. This review is for the deluxe version.

Love On The Inside (Deluxe Fan Edition) is a well sung artistic country masterpiece. This album is deeper then most other albums on the recent market. The songs aren’t simple. This Sugarland album makes love, loss, and fun all complex. I like that Sugarland did not play it safe on this album. They took risks and pushed the artistic envelope. “Come On Get Higher” is my favorite song on the album that breaks from the ordinary. The deluxe edition contains the tour collaboration song, “Life In A Northern Town.” Another example of doing something new and scoring a huge success. The most impressive thing about Sugarland is there ability to fuse pop and country together without making it annoying. One of my favorite songs on the album, “Keep You” had a Celine Dion quality. “Keep You” “What I’d Give,” and “Very Last Country Song” are very memorable. I loved these songs because Jennifer Nettle’s voice is just dripping with emotion. Like with their huge hit, “Stay,” Sugarland can really deliver the emotional songs.

So if you haven’t bought the album and are thinking about it, buy the deluxe version. Deluxe edition contains 5 extra songs: Fall Into Me, Operation: Working Vacation, Wishing, Life in A Northern Town (live), Come On Get Higher (live). The two live songs alone make the deluxe version worth the few extra bucks! The whole album is full of beautiful vocals and amazing writing.

Below I have provided a short summary of the songs on the album:

Sugarland - Love On The Inside (Deluxe Fan Edition)
1. All I Want To Do – Upbeat love song that grows on you.
2. It Happens – A great song about just letting go, accepting life as it is, and don’t worry about it.

Sugarland is one of those bands that will be able to stick around a long while in the business because they really have the talent! They also seem to really enjoy themselves and love their fans.

    Bobby,

I agree with you about the songwriting! I was so amazed how they were able to write such complex themes in the songs yet still sound melodic and emotional.
