Carrie Underwood 2008 CMA Just a Dream & intro. by widow Leslie Ponder
After watching the CMA’s last night and reflecting on the show, the most important thing I took away from it was how powerful the female country musician’s seemed last night. Carrie did a great job co-hosting. Her haunting “Just A Dream” was the most powerful performance of the night. All the best performances of the night came from female singers. Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Swift, I felt were the best. Besides those three, Jennifer Nettles, Reba, Kelly, and Martina lit up the stage. The women stood out. They were rocking the stage and bringing out emotion. Shania making an appearance and letting country fans know she will be back on the scene was amazing too. I think male domination of the airwaves is declining and will soon be a thing of the past. Young stars like Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift are proving that they can put out good song after good song and they have the character and soul to sustain themselves. Music greats like Reba, Martina, Shania, and Trisha are making it clear that they are not going anywhere. Then there is the writing and musical talents in artists like Jennifer Nettles, Leanne Rimes, and Miranda Lambert to help propel the ladies to the top. There are of course countless other female musicians I didn’t mention that also make country music great.

i thought taylor sounded really off key and absolutely horrible, but carrie and miranda were both really good
