Taylor Swift performing “Your Not Sorry” Live from Vegas at the 44th Annual ACM Awards


Overall, I must say the show was not that exciting. The performances did not have much of a wow factor and many artists sang songs they always sing or picked songs that were not all that great. Some performances were good though. I thought the opening was pretty cool. Brooks & Dunn opened the show. How can anyone not love those guys. It was a nice way to start the show. It helped showcase all the great things going on in country music right now. I liked when Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, and Carrie Underwood all sang with Brooks & Dunn at the end of the opening. Reba was also a great MC. She looked beautiful, did a great job debuting her new song,”Strange,” and was funny! I thought the magic trick thing was OK because the show was in Vegas. The military tribute was touching but the song, “Til’ The Last Shot’s Fired” itself isn’t that moving.

Good Surprises Of The Night
1. Carrie winning ACM Entertainer of the year. I am glad her fans came through for her.
2. Reba debuting her new song, “Strange”
3. Trace Adkins winning best song for ” Your Gonna Miss This.” Trace is big on the radio and people love him. He deserves any award he gets.

Where you surprised by anything?

Annoyances of The Night
1. Julianne Hough getting best new artist. I know if was fan voted so it was based on name recognition and not who was the most talented but still. I really like Jake Owens and I think he deserved to win. I am sure there were other names not even nominated that would have been better. I am not slamming Julianne Hough. I just don’t agree.
2. Carrie Underwood singing I Told You So. She does a great job but I just heard her sing it on American Idol. I would have liked to hear something different out of her.
3. The ACM’s didn’t rock enough. I think Montgomery Gentry and Keith Urban rocked it but the show seemed flat.

Where you annoyed by anything last night on the ACM’s?

My Keith Urban Comments
So once again Keith Urban wins nothing. Keith is a country rock star. He isn’t typical country and I maybe that is why he hasn’t gotten the awards/recognition. Keith has talent, amazing energy, and connection with the music that is rare and should be recognized. I wonder if Keith Urban would have been received differently if he was the lead of a country band and not a solo act. He acts like a band.
