I really question some of the song selections for this album. I didn’t like the title track – first song on the album. That first song. “Wide Open” should have been better. It just doesn’t seem to fit Jason Aldean. Jason Aldean’s first album was my favorite and his second and now this one are good. I love his voice. I love his personality. I like that Jason Aldean likes to add that rock element. While there were a couple of great songs on this album, I didn’t like that some songs seemed overwritten or just strangely written. Also I read at the 9515 country music blog that “This I Gotta See” was actually a title track from an old Andy Griggs album. It was the song choices that made this album just good and not great.

“She’s Country” is the best song off the album!
“Crazy Town” was one of the best off the album. He rocked it. It was a fun look into the Nashville scene.
“Big Green Tractor” – David Lee Murphy wrote this song. It was good. This song is a little country retro! It actually reminds me of something Kenny Chesney or Tim McGraw would have sang back in the day.
Truth – This is my favorite song on the album. It is about not being able to get over someone. Song is about lying and saying you are doing OK but the truth is you can’t get over her.
Wide Open Track List:
Wide Open – Liked the music but the lyrics didn’t seem to fit the rocking music. I really didn’t like the song much. The song is about a waitress trying to make it.
This I Gotta See – Ok
Fast – Loved his voice. “Fast” was OK. Really showcased his voice. He sounds so good on the slower songs.
The lyrics are a little jumbled and strange. Didn’t like how it was written. Should have been a little simpler.
Crazy Town – Song about Nashville being a crazy town.
Don’t Give Up On Me – Pretty good. Asking his woman to not give up on him. He knows he isn’t perfect but he loves her and is trying to do his best.
She’s Country – Party song!
On My Highway – Pretty good. He sounds great.
Keep The Girl – Ok. Conflicted about staying with his girlfriend in the small time or leaving to go out into the big world.
Big Green Tractor – Cool. About hanging out with the one you love. Love song. Very country.
Truth – It is about not being able to get over someone. Song is about having your friends etc. lying and saying you are OK. Great song.
Love Was Easy – Pretty Good. Looking back when things were easier.
